Blair Nothdurft begins Speedweeks with DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals at Volusia
The 2024 season kicked off for Renner, South Dakota’s Blair Nothdurft on Friday with a trek to Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) to compete in the rain-shortened fifth annual DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals.
After Mother Nature wiped out the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series opener on Thursday, Blair laid down the fourth-fastest time in his stacked 28-car group in time trials on Friday but slipped over the cushion on the start of heat, relegating him to sixth in the finishing order. Needing a runner-up showing or better in his B-Main to make the feature, Nothdurft fell short with a sixth-place outing.
Rebounding on Saturday in his heat after getting buried in time trials, Nothdurft gained three spots to finish fifth, sending him into a B-Main. Transferring the top-two into the $15,000-to-win DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals finale, Blair came one spot shy with a third-place finish.

Nothdurft will return to action next Thursday, January 25th, as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) kicks off their season with the Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.).
